Cracked: Why Psychiatry does more harm than good by James Davies.
James Davies is a British anthropologist. In this excellent book Davies describes the experiment conducted by David Rosenhan and how, when Rosenhan’s experiment was published in the journal Science, it rocked the world of psychiatry and brought American psychiatry to its knees. Davies travelled widely to do extensive research for his book and interviewed the most powerful people in the world of psychiatry. The book records the exact conversations he had with them.
This is essential reading for all doctors, all staff in the mental health services, all psychologists and therapists, all health service managers, all politicians, all patients and all their families, friends and carers.
