Dr Clive Sherlock

Clive Sherlock founded Adaptation Practice in 1978. He has a background in medicine, psychology and Zen. He worked for three years in London teaching hospitals before going to Heidelberg University to study philosophy. On his return to the UK he went to Oxford University for postgraduate studies in psychiatry and psychology.

At the same time he started a traditional Rinzai Zen training under the Zen Teacher Venerable Myokyo-ni, which he continued for the next 25 years. This included daily life practice, meditation and the study of far eastern psychology and philosophy. He subsequently taught Buddhist psychology and philosophy for a number of years at The Buddhist Society in London, wrote articles for The Buddhist Society’s journal The Middle Way and contributed to books on western and eastern psychology and philosophy.

This dual training in western and eastern practices and his years of experience formed the foundations for Adaptation Practice.

Dr Sherlock teaches Adaptation Practice to people from all walks of life from all over the world in person and by distance learning.
